The client in this study is the leading full service specialty distributor of outsourced rigid packaging solutions in North America. In addition to supplying a broad assortment of rigid packaging containers and related components, they also provide package design, engineering and development services, as well as global sourcing and logistics management.

Prior to AbeTech’s involvement, the client had installed RF in just one of their 30 locations. The remaining locations were still using outdated and inefficient manual data collection methods.

Being understaffed, they needed a professional bar code integration company to take over implementation of the new systems at all locations to help them accurately receive inventory and track the locations of inventory items.

Their challenge to AbeTech was to become their bar code implementation arm, provide a hardware standard, and roll out the new hardware to all locations in 18 months.

After meeting with the client’s CIO, talking with warehouse personnel, and conducting site surveys, we used our Professional Services department to create a turnkey solution involving the construction and installation of a system employing the MC9090 with Lorax, Zebra printers, and accessories, along with Stay-Linked software and location labels and shipping labels.

As a result, warehouse product management is much more streamlined and efficient. Thanks to enlarged bar codes, forklift drivers are now able to scan from a distance and save time in finding the products they are picking.
